French president Emmanuel Macron has announced the death of Olivier Dassault, the son of Dassault Group’s late chief executive Serge Dassault and grandson of the company’s founder.
Olivier Dassault, an entrepreneur and politician who had held roles within the aerospace company, was reportedly involved during a helicopter crash in Normandy, northern France on 7 March.
Macron says he was a “captain of industry” and a reserve commander of the air force.
“He never ceased to serve our country,” he adds.
Prime minister Jean Castex describes Dassault as a “visionary entrepreneur” and a “man deeply committed to his country”.
French investigation authority BEA is investing a fatal rotorcraft accident at Touques, Normandy, which occurred at 17:50 involving F-GIBM, an Airbus Helicopters H125.
It has not confirmed whether this accident, during take-off from private land, involved Dassault. BEA says investigators are going to be on site tomorrow morning.
France’s civli aviation regulator lists F-GIBM as being a 1981 aircraft related to a Paris-based entity called Dolijet.
